Research Team

 

John Jackson (vice president of research). John is a veteran analyst specializing in mobile technologies. Additional areas of focus include semiconductor and infrastructure suppliers, and device manufacturing and distribution strategies. Before joining CCS Insight, John was vice president of Yankee Group's Wireless/Mobile Technologies Decision Service, where he led research on a range of topics, including devices, infrastructure, regulations and standards. Before that, John spent two years at Chase Manhattan, and five years at a small research firm focusing on competitive market analysis.

Geoff Blaber (director of devices and platforms). In his role as director of devices and platforms, Geoff leads our research in these areas. He joined CCS Insight in 2007 from IDC, where he established a reputation for informed qualitative analysis on industry dynamics, company strategies, product positioning and market forecasts. Geoff has also worked for a consultancy division of Atkins and for Competitive Intelligence and Consultancy. He is a well-known member of the analyst community and provides regular commentary to leading organisations such as Reuters, the Financial Times and the BBC.

Paolo Pescatore (director, apps and media). Paolo joined CCS Insight in November 2007. He has more than 10 years' experience in the mobile sector. Prior to joining CCS Insight, Paolo was a research manager at IDC, responsible for mobile consumer research across Europe. Before joining IDC he was at Ovum, where he covered a broad spectrum of mobile and wireless topics for two years. Paolo is a well-regarded thought leader in the mobile industry. At CCS Insight he leads research on mobile applications, media and content.

Paolo Pescatore

Marina Koytcheva (director, forecasting). Marina has an extensive background in market analysis and forecasting. Before joining CCS Insight she was part of Nokia's global Strategic Intelligence team, focusing on market forecasting for mobile and Internet services. Prior to that, she worked in Nokia's mobile devices business, delivering market and competitive intelligence. Before Nokia, Marina worked in variety of industries, including financial services and industrial materials. At CCS Insight, she leads our market forecasting work.

Marina Koytcheva

Gavin Byrne (principal analyst). In his role at CCS Insight, Gavin examines the device market, with a particular focus on tablets. Before joining CCS Insight, Gavin worked at Informa Telecoms & Media, where he analysed a range of topics across the mobile handset market, including operating systems, strategies, segmentation and manufacturing. Before that, Gavin worked for four years at a UK-based market research and competitive intelligence agency. He regularly provides comment to media organisations such as Bloomberg and the BBC.

Gavin Byrne

Kester Mann (senior analyst). Kester came to CCS Insight in October 2010 from Nokia, where he held the position of market analyst, specialising in mobile operator intelligence and device forecasting. He was previously a senior research analyst with Informa Telecoms and Media, where he established a reputation as an informed commentator on European mobile markets and regularly presented at regional conferences and events. His main focus areas were mobile operator strategy, market sizing and forecasting and data service deployment. Before joining Informa, he worked as a sales analyst for Motorola.

Kester Mann

Digantam Gurung (analyst). Digantam joined CCS Insight in September 2009. He is responsible for device pricing and analysis. As a part of this, he maintains the CCS Insight Pricing, Prepay and Tablets Web sites. Additionally, Digantam leads CCS Insight's research on near field communication (NFC) and mobile money, including mobile commerce and banking. He has provided commentary to media organisations including the Financial Times and Bloomberg.

Dig Gurung

Jasdeep Badyal (research analyst). Jasdeep came to CCS Insight in October 2010 as a graduate from the University of Surrey. Jasdeep has previously worked in the economic forecasting group at Experian Business Strategies as part of his university course. He holds a dedicated interest in the latest mobile and wireless technology, with a focus on mobile gaming. He is also responsible for maintaining the company's databases, and provides support to other members of the team on special projects.

Jas Badyal

Robert Poynter (associate). Bob became a CCS Insight associate in April 2009. He currently supports programmes covering retail research and customer lifetime studies. He also brings a unique mix of knowledge and humour to CCS Insight. Bob has a wealth of experience in the telecom and data communications industries, and has delivered projects into various carriers and mobile network operators.
