User Survey: Wearables

A detailed assessment of attitudes and expectations for wearables

  • Survey of technology enthusiasts
  • Includes users and non-users
  • Evaluation of usage patterns
  • Assessment of buying criteria
  • Examines plans for future purchase
  • Informs about market potential

This is a survey of users and non-users of wearable technology, which sets out to explore the different segments we have identified and understand people's attitudes, expectations and purchase behaviour with wearable technology. We run the survey once a year, covering a range of markets in Europe, North America and elsewhere, with 1,000 respondents in each territory.

The survey is conducted among smartphone owners (the most likely buyers of wearables) and is completed on their phones. In each run of the survey we include a common core set of questions and a number of questions that are topical to recent product launches or market developments. The survey aims to inform manufacturers and operators about the market potential for different categories of wearables, and is also one of the key sources of information feeding our forecast updates.
